Posted By Administration, Wednesday, May 2, 2018

At each conference, a group of C.A.R.E. volunteers participate in a "C.A.R.E. Gives Back" philanthropic project.

At the 2018 conference in Austin, volunteers assembled Welcome Home Baskets to provide new residents who are moving out of homelessness with basic household items like linens, plates, and towels. The baskets provided are "physical representations of a fresh start, new possibilities, and the beginning of a new life.

C.A.R.E. Joins Global Secondary Market Coalition

Posted By Bonnie Kosco, Wednesday, March 28, 2018

Harrisonburg, VA-March 2018 - The Cooperative Association of Resort Exchangers (C.A.R.E.) is proud to announce that is has joined the Global Secondary Market Coalition (GSMC) launched by the Association of Vacation Owners (AVO) earlier this year.

The GSMC is as a multi-national alliance of industry stakeholders that are engaged in creating best practices, reviewing current licensing requirements and establishing a code of ethical and responsible conduct for secondary market service providers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

With increasing complaints, continuing scrutiny by regulatory agencies and an ongoing need to maintain public trust, the AVO is encouraging leaders in the timeshare community to participate in the GSMC.  C.A.R.E. member companies (and their customers) are being affected daily with secondary market activity and/or participating in it directly.  C.A.R.E.’s Mission Statement is, “To promote ethical and outstanding vacation services by providing education and networking opportunities”.  Therefore C.A.R.E.’s Board of Directors felt it was imperative to the association’s mission to get involved as a stakeholder in this initiative.  Read More

After serving the vacation ownership community as the National Timeshare Owners Association for more than twenty years, the organization today announced its new name: The Association of Vacation Owners (AVO) and its expanded membership services. The new name and logo reflects AVO’s broadened mission and purpose in addition to expanded support to a wider segment of vacation owners throughout North America.

“We are very pleased to expand our alliances to include credible organizations that share our vision to improve education, engagement and support for timeshare and vacation owners” said Gregory Crist, CEO.

The membership based organization is now seeking industry partners who will commit to the AVO Service Pledge and will vow to relentlessly advocate for improvements in communication, protection, and preservation of vacation ownership.

“AVO is also attracting thousands of vacation owners by continuing its twenty-year history of dedication and focus on providing owners with the tools and information they need to strengthen their ownership experience”, continued Crist.

The organization is committed to these efforts along with finding solutions to tough industry challenges like the secondary market. Working together on behalf of owners strengthens and supports the relationships between the vacation owner community and industry.

About the AVO

Originally formed in 1997 as the National Timeshare Owners Association. The AVO is a social purpose organization dedicated to educating vacation owners and advocating on behalf of its owner/members. C.A.R.E. Member Press Release-Vice President Resignation

Posted By Bonnie Kosco, Friday, February 2, 2018

C.A.R.E. Member Press Release – Vice President Resignation

Harrisonburg, VA-February 2018

At the 2017 Fall Conference in Anaheim, California this past October Jim Wehrle was nominated for re-election of his Vice President seat on the C.A.R.E. Board of Directors.  However, we are sad to announce that due to a recent corporate reorganization by Jim’s employer he no longer qualifies as the authorized general member representative and has since, submitted his resignation.  Jim has been a loyal member and supporter of C.A.R.E. for nearly 20 years and will certainly be missed by our association.

Upon his retirement from the board, Jim had served C.A.R.E. as a board member for nearly 14 of those 20 years.  He’s been an integral part of many C.A.R.E. Initiatives, chaired and participated on several committees and task force projects over the years.  Being bi-lingual, Jim was an integral Ambassador for C.A.R.E. representing us at many trade shows over the years and contributed to many memberships being on boarded from Mexico and abroad; many of which are still with us today.

Jim’s resignation was heartfelt, and I wanted to share his sentiments with you, his friends of C.A.R.E.  “It is difficult to explain what C.A.R.E. and its members have meant to me in my almost 20 years of involvement.  C.A.R.E. is not just a normal trade association.  It is, and has always been, more of a personal family group that cares for its members.  C.A.R.E. and its people have, and always will have, my love, respect and gratitude.”

To Jim, “From the C.A.R.E. Board of Directors (past and present) and the C.A.R.E. Membership, we wish you the best of everything life has to offer.  Your personal and professional contributions far exceed anything we could accurately enumerate. We thank you for all your time, energy and passionate contributions to C.A.R.E.  Please don’t be a stranger…you’ll surely be missed friend!

Thank You and Good Luck to you Jim Wehrle!  Award of Service 2004-2018

The Canadian Vacation Ownership Association (CVOA) has announced plans for VO-Con 2018, the only event of its kind in Canada.  Scheduled for September 25-27, VO-Con 2018 will be held at the Westin Trillium House Resort in Blue Mountain, Ontario.

According to Jon Zwickel, President and CEO of CVOA, “Last year’s conference proved that our casual format, with plenty of time for networking and professional relationship building, was enthusiastically welcomed by attendees, who are predominantly stakeholders in the vacation ownership industry.
