Your July Issue of QuickConnects

Summer sure is ticking right along. I saw a meme on Facebook recently that said… 4 th of July is over, time to get your back to school supplies & Halloween costumes & Thanksgiving menu & Christmas present shopping done now because it’s basically 2020…Happy New Year!  It was nice to know I wasn’t alone in feeling time disappearing too quickly.

Speaking of time, do you have any extra C.A.R.E. can borrow? As you know C.A.R.E. is run primarily on volunteers and we always need volunteers. Here are a few areas we could use some help with...READ MORE

Your June Issue of QuickConnects

Posted By Administration, Friday, July 19, 2019
Happy Summer My Friends! Is it hot in here or is it just me? I’m no Meteorologist but yeah, it’s hot…whew! Heat index in Florida this past week was 100-110! I’m sure many of you are feeling it all around. I’m also not a Dermatologist but I am a high-risk skin cancer survivor and I owe it all to awareness! Please, don’t forget to protect yourself when out in the blazing sun. It’s a dangerous creature and our skin is fragile. Skincancer.org says, “Sunscreens should be applied 30 minutes before sun exposure to allow the ingredients to fully bind to the skin. Reapplication of sunscreen is just as important as putting it on in the first place, so reapply the same amount every two hours.”

As an auction donor, Bob Kobek (CustomerCount ®) ) was randomly selected to designate the charity that C.A.R.E. would donate 5% of 2019 Conference Auction proceeds to and he selected the Dean Hedstrom Foundation for Melanoma Awareness (thank you Bob). Our auction was in May, which was also Melanoma Awareness Month, so his timing could not have been more perfect to select this foundation as the benefactor. I’m also a board member of this great foundation and we regularly use the American Academy of Dermatology Association’s website (www.aad.org ) for resources to share at our events to raise awareness. Their awareness campaign this year was “Do you wear protection?” and “Practice safe sun” . If you answered no, please visit this website and learn more about the dangers of the sun and harmful UV rays (natural or artificial) and how to protect yourself.  READ MORE

Why Should We C.A.R.E.?

Posted By Administration, Friday, June 21, 2019

We, at Resort Trades, are niche media people who have been heavily invested in the resort timeshare industry for 30-plus years. In our opinion, C.A.R.E. conferences have long been an undervalued resource for networking and learning about the current state of our industry. When you attend a C.A.R.E. conference, not only will you not be lost in a crowd, but you will be heard.

It’s a laid-back, fun, and easy-going long weekend. By contrast, ARDA World, which occurred a month before, was almost frenetic with activity as high-level decision makers met together and swapped ideas. The feeling you get at an ARDA convention is that you are surrounded principally by ‘C-suite’ professionals, whereas C.A.R.E.’s 68th conference in Indianapolis included individuals from every different organizational level. Whereas ARDA World tended to give attendees a wide-angle lens view of the vacation ownership industry, the C.A.R.E. meeting allowed you into the trenches. Both views are of value: If ARDA World can be compared to fine wine and caviar; we might liken C.A.R.E. to burgers and wings. Either event left you feeling plump and full, according to your appetite. C.A.R.E. Going Green: From Nursery to Garden to Table

Posted By Administration, Friday, June 21, 2019

I am blessed to live in a location where we can grow vegetables, fruit and flowers for a solid 9 months a year.

After winning Brent Preston's book: The New Farm: Our Ten Years on the Front Lines of the Good Food Revolution at a C.A.R.E. Silent Auction, I was inspired to start a garden of my own. This article is what I do in my garden, and to show you what you can do too. This is how I buy, grow and eat, on a daily basis, right from my own backyard garden.

Now I write this with the understanding that in San Diego, California, we refer to June, as “June Gloom”, because we rarely see the sun. I know, this makes no sense, but in the month of June, we usually have gloomy days all month. So, my garden will look much more robust next month, once it sees the sun every day. In fact, today the gloom is so heavy, it was misting outside and everything is wet. Here is how I grow a garden. READ MORE....

Hello C.A.R.E. Friends!

It sure was great to be “back home again in Indiana” with my C.A.R.E. friends a few weeks ago at our 67th Conference! While I haven’t seen the official conference survey results; the unofficial results on the track is that C.A.R.E. gets the checkered flag for a second year in a row! The fun started in the foyer of the Westin Downtown Indianapolis with an exciting, and controversial, derby watch party and continued to a new auction format with a spontaneous, funny and fiery auctioneer. Mix in three fantastic keynote speakers, three valuable informative panel discussions and top it off on the track of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. C.A.R.E. attendees raced to the finish with lots of new memories and more importantly, new business opportunities.

After a crazy three months…I’m finally getting settled in my new job and new apartment in my new town! I’m truly ready to get back down to serious business without all the chaos I’ve been swimming in! If you have extended me any patience and grace during this transition time…I truly appreciate it! C.A.R.E. Honored with Best Strategic Partnership Award at 2019 Perspective Magazine Awards

Posted By Administration, Wednesday, March 13, 2019

Orlando, Florida, March 12, 2019 (Perspective Magazine)- C.A.R.E., the Cooperative Association of Resort Exchangers, a non-profit trade association was honored with the award for Best Strategic Partnership at the 2019 Perspective Magazine Awards which were held during the GNEX 2019 Conference at Baha Mar, Bahamas on February 27th.

The Perspective Magazine Awards recognizes companies and individuals for their achievements within the vacation ownership industry over the past year and is considered one of the highest honors within the industry. The 2019 Perspective Awards were judged independently by a group of industry experts combined with online votes from industry peers and presented during an awards lunch party sponsored by Holiday Systems International and INTUITION during the GNEX 2019 Conference.

Established in 1985, C.A.R.E. has hosted semi-annual conferences up through the Fall of 2017 and since 2018 has hosted annual conferences. Its 67th conference in 34 years will be held at the Westin Indianapolis from May 4-7, 2019. C.A.R.E. was formed to provide enhanced vacation fulfillment options for owners during a time when exchange companies were experiencing some early growing pains.  Since its inception, C.A.R.E. has been run almost solely by volunteer members and has been led by President Linda Mayhugh (C.O.O. / Gunn Marketing Group, Inc.) for the past four years.  Mayhugh has very effectively strengthened C.A.R.E.’s strategic alliances with multiple industry associations including ACOTUR, AMDETUR, ARDA, AVO and CVOA.

It’s an extreme honor, and I’m very proud, to have received this award from Perspective Magazine on behalf of C.A.R.E.,” Mayhugh commented.  “By strengthening these association alliances, we have removed global borders and expanded worldwide opportunities resulting in greater growth for our shared industry; both financially and organizationally.  It is a primary goal of mine, as President of C.A.R.E., to continually seek beneficial avenues that will create more shared value among all in our industry.
